Build your wood-products supply chain in Mexico — one border from your customers, with minimal or zero tariffs under USMCA and White Lion handling customs and logistics.

The consortium

Our passion for wood meets your design.

Our passion for building in wood blends with our customers’ design ideas, resulting in beautiful pieces for the spaces people live and work in.

Smidr Jarl brings together woodworking companies — mostly in Mexico — with a complete range of skills: engineering, CNC machining, pressing, edging, milling, gluing and finishing. Retailers, furniture brands, architects, contractors and hospitality groups use us as one point of contact for the whole job, from production drawings to a finished, crated piece at their dock.

If your product is made of wood, there’s a great chance we can make it.

Why Smidr Jarl

Nearshoring

Build your wood supply chain one border away.

Sourcing wood products from Mexico changes the arithmetic. Freight is a truck, not a container. Qualifying goods cross with minimal or zero tariffs. Your designer can stand next to the first article. And White Lion Procurement handles the border, so your team doesn’t have to.

Schematic — not to scale. Transit times depend on origin, destination and mode; we confirm them per RFQ.

  • USMCA

    Minimal or zero tariffs

Wood products that qualify under the United States–Mexico–Canada Agreement can cross with minimal or zero duty. We help you document origin before the first quote, so the tariff line is a known number.

  • Distance

Days by truck, not weeks by sea

Furniture, flooring and millwork leave the shop on a trailer and reach US and Canadian docks by road. No port congestion, no container roll-overs.

  • Inventory

    Smaller safety stock

Shorter, steadier lead times mean faster reorders. Carry less stock in the warehouse and react to what is actually selling.

  • Time zone

    Working hours that overlap

Central and Mountain time line up with most of Mexico, so a question about a finish sample gets answered the same afternoon.

  • Visits

    Walk the shop floor

A short flight puts your team at the bench for first-article reviews, finish approvals and audits. White Lion runs factory audits and inspections on your behalf.

  • Border

    White Lion handles the crossing

Customs brokerage, border crossing, container supervision, 3PL and merchandise insurance are handled by White Lion Procurement, so your team never touches a pedimento.

Species

Wood we work

Six species we are asked for most. We source others to your spec — the exact material quality you request, or above.

  • Oak

    Quercus spp.

Hard, heavy and open-grained. Takes stain evenly; quarter-sawn boards show the ray fleck oak is known for.

    Flooring · tables · casework

  • Parota · Mayan chestnut

    Enterolobium cyclocarpum

A Mexican hardwood with warm brown heartwood and pale sapwood. Wide boards and slabs with interlocked, lively grain.

Flooring · slab tables · statement pieces

  • Walnut

    Juglans spp.

Chocolate-brown, fine and straight-grained. Machines cleanly and finishes to a deep, even lustre.

Executive desks · credenzas · veneers

  • Birch

    Betula spp.

Pale, tight and uniform. Stable as solid wood and as multi-ply panels; the birch in our name.

Panels · shelving · painted pieces

  • Pine

    Pinus spp.

Light, workable softwood with strong latewood rings and knots that read as character.

Rustic furniture · fixtures · crating

  • Cedar

    Cedrela / Thuja

Aromatic, reddish and naturally resistant to decay. Light for its size and steady outdoors.

Exterior pieces · cladding · closets
